Ok, so...I'm back from the promised land of retail and food gasms; Singapore. I was planning to do a whole detailed post about my trip etc etc, document what I ate, where I ate it and how life-fulfilled I felt after I had ate it but...there was just too. So i'll just have to stick with briefs over boxers for this one (geez ANOTHER underwear analogy? score!).

Flew in on RBA (Really Bad Airlines) Friday morning. The flight wasn't bad but the food was horrible. Absolutely the worst airline food I've ever had. Beef sausages (supposedly), Baked Beans (doubtful) and Hashbrowns (wood chippings?). At least I arrived in one piece and RBA was kind enough not to loose my luggage. Thanks guys!!

So here's the gist of it, I ate and I shopped, ALOT (of both). Didin't manage to get any candid shots of my trip, I regret that. Anyway, here's what I bought:

[Clothes]
Just some new t-shirts and a couple o polo's.

[Other Stuff]
My new leather Billabong bag. On a brighter note though I'll be heading to Singapore tomorrow!! WOOT!! Will be there till monday, back in time for school to start. Hoping to do lots of shopping, family visiting and just getting-away-from-brunei-ing (but not from a certain Someone in a black hoodie). Can't believe after two months of holidays I only get to go somewhere on the last 4 days. sigh. My luck.

Alright so on to the main topic, yesterday along with Derek and these two other friends of his, Bernard and Leonard (coincidence? dun dun dun), I went to watch:

Poster looks good doesn't it? Well I thought so too and thought hey maybe this won't be so bad. Alas I was sadly mistaken. The movie, in short, is a disappointment. Not so much due to the fact that the plot was dull, contained only two major events and political intrigue that only a 12 year old would find shocking. Perhaps therein lies the major problem, the movie may have been aimed at a younger audience, one that Lucasarts could capitalise on when the steamrolling merchandise machine starts pumping out all the movie related toys and t-shirts, oh and the water bottles too. But hey!! I'm a freaking Star Wars fan too, why should I get left out? Bah.

Ok so what did I like about the movie? Well for one thing, The Clones, who despite being the main focus of the title, seem to take only a minor role to the Jedi. I mean freaking Hec, it's called the CLONE wars not the JEDI wars, i know i know, Star Wars = Jedi, I get that but it's a nice change of underwear to see the film focus on someone or something else at least. But no, the only worthwhile incident involving the Clones that film-makers decided to present was their being shot over...and over...and over...again. I know, it's a war, people get shot but come on, why not show the clones actually being able to get something done without the help of a fruity looking dude in robes wielding a lethal flashlight.

The dialogue too, left much to be desired for. At many times in the film the voice-acting felt forced, mundane and lacking of every appropriate emotion save for mild bemusement which seems wildly out of place when you are in the middle of battle, greatly out numbered and with the high possiblity of getting your righteous asses served by walking toasters. Speaking of the droids, I must once again hang my head in shame at the baseless over-exaggeration of the mild comic-droid relief we all enjoyed from the movies. The utter idiocy of the droids was spelt out in bright neon and displayed for viewers at every bloody oppurtunity until it was actually sickening to hear them. There is a fine line between subtle humour and the kind of humour that just smacks you round the head till you want to just stop watching. Again, I realise, this movie was aimed for kids but come on George, how can you get a decent nights sleep with this crass depiction of your genius being flaunted all over the world? Another thing about the voice-acting, none of the actual actors save for Christopher Lee (Count Dooku), Samuel L Jackson (Mace Windu, Anthony Daniels (C3-PO) and Tom Kane the 2nd (Yoda), reprised their roles.

On a final note I have to say that the movie really, truly, let me down. However not all hope is lost for the Star Wars franchise as George Lucas has announced that a live-action tv show is in the works though filming is not expected to begin till 2010, the show will take place between Episodes 3 and 4 of the film and will be aimed at mature audience so at least there will be none of the cheesy crap that we saw in the animated film. Hurrah!!

Well this is all from me for now, it's midnight, my flight's at 8 and i have to be up in 5 hours.

Feck.

Feckled.

in reply:
Angel- I hope so too gel! :)
Cheryl- in the undying language that is Singlish: Thiam lah you!

Ok, as of yesterday (it's 2am now, get with the program) I have exactly one week till Year 13 begins...

Frack!!

So much to do and now only 6 days left to do them.

Yesterday was busy:
Got up in time for lunch, made samosas, got my haircut and redyed. Orange. Coppery mostly. Cost me 60 dollars, this colour better damn last. Then I took a drive around gadong looking for a new stereo for my car. Incidentally I discovered two things:

1.) The left rear speaker of my car has decided to stop working, I attribute this to a certain incident that only me and my good friend Derek know about. hush-hush.

2.) Some shops here are either staffed by morons (I tried to find a nicer word. No really.) or real scam artists that are employed with the sole purpose of extracting certain coloured pieces of paper from your tightly clenched right fist.

To the second point I shall elaborate further: So I step into a shop and inquire as to what speakers (mine's broken remember?) they have for sale, at what price etc etc. At some point the ever polite salesman asks to see my car, I incline and after several minutes of him fluffing about in my back seat and inspecting of my speaker from every which angle and a further consultation with a mechanic he tells me that in order to replace my speakers they will have to keep my car for 2 days as they will have to remove the entire rear seating and upholstery and will cost me 200 dollars.

Needless to say my expression was thus:

Despondent now though I was, I visited another shop and this was the ensuing conversation:

Me: "how long would this take?"
Mech-Guy: "not long lah, 30 mins only"
Me: "oh! how much?"
Mech-Guy: "installation cost is, like 15 doh-lah."
Me: ...

ANYWAY!! After much browsing I think I've settled on a stereo or what they call a 1 DIN Receiver:

Kenwood's KDC-MP339S

Snazzy, no?

Well, it's 3 am, I'm about done with my plate of mi goreng and my playlist just threw out the Cardigans (the hec??), time to head off.

Buh-bye.

Oh freak, here we go again.

It's time. I'm listening to Dream On by Aerosmith and I can't help thinking how damn appropriate it is, this being my twelfth hundred attempt at running a blog. It's 1:56am, I am running on pure God-only-knows-what chemical running through my blood, no it's not adrenaline because I feel lethargic.

That is exactly how I could sum up the entirety of my existence: Lethargy. I'm 18 and I haven't done anything with my life. I'm a jack-of-all-trades and master of damn near none. What skills can I attribute to myself? I know how to read, write and drive. Great I'm part of the majority of the population on this planet. Serious feeling of accomplishment *pats shoulder*. Wrong, Andrew, serious serious fail. I'm 18 and I have yet to be good at anything. Honestly, I've never been able to freaking finish anything I've ever started. I have failed the last 18 years of my life. Well no more, it starts now, some way, some how (oh that rhymed, maybe i can be a poet. not.).
